SZA has officially ended her professional relationship with Terrence “Punch” Henderson, president of Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE), concluding a decade-long partnership that shaped her rise in the music industry. The announcement came unexpectedly via Instagram, where the artist revealed that Henderson had stepped away from his role as her manager.
“Nothing to celebrate. The end of an era. I wish him the best whatever his choices may be,” SZA wrote in response to a fan post discussing the split.
The breakup, while sudden, appears to be amicable. SZA sought to clarify her feelings, urging her followers to avoid targeting Henderson. “To be clear I love punch deeply! NO ONE should be attacking him or being cruel on my behalf. Sometimes ppl grow apart and that’s okay,” she added.
Henderson’s departure comes on the heels of the release of SOS Deluxe: Lana, the expanded version of SZA’s critically acclaimed album SOS. The rollout for the deluxe edition faced multiple challenges, including delays and last-minute adjustments to the tracklist. SZA hinted that the management transition may have influenced these complications, though she refrained from directly attributing the issues to Henderson’s exit.
Despite the disruption, SZA assured fans her creative vision remains unwavering. She continues to refine the remaining tracks from Lana and remains committed to delivering for her audience.
Henderson played a pivotal role in SZA’s career, guiding her from her early days with TDE to the mainstream success of projects like Ctrl and SOS. The end of their professional relationship marks a significant shift for the artist as she moves forward without the managerial figure who helped define her path in the industry.
Both SZA and Henderson have not publicly disclosed plans for their next steps, but the parting signals a new chapter in their respective careers.
