Last month, the Phoenix Suns fired head coach, Monty Williams, after the team was eliminated in the Western Conference semifinals. With the Finals, between Denver and Miami, now underway, the Suns have officially locked in on their new coach. Earlier today, NBA insider, Adrian Wojnarowski, broke the news that the Suns are planning to hire former Laker, and Pacers coach, Frank Vogel.

The level of experience that Vogel brings to the table should put Phoenix fans at ease. Not only does Vogel know how to coach high-profile players, such as Lebron James and Paul George, but he also brings a much-needed defensive presence. Despite having three offensive threats in Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, and Devin Booker, Phoenix struggled with their defense. Vogel’s presence could also turn things around for the Suns on the other end of the court.
Vogel’s deal, once finalized, is said to be a 5-year agreement worth $31.25 million.
