PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The anticipation for a musical and cultural extravaganza unlike any other is building as GRAMMY® Award-winning multi-platinum hip-hop luminaries The Roots and Live Nation Urban announce the 2024 edition of “Roots Picnic.” The two-day festival is set to return to its traditional venue, The Mann in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, PA, on Saturday and Sunday, June 1-2, 2024.
Marking the event’s milestone, the Roots Picnic alumni presale is scheduled to go live on Tuesday, February 20th at 10 AM ET, followed by the general on-sale starting Friday, February 23rd at 10 AM ET. Fans can secure their weekend tickets and VIP packages online.
Continuing its legacy of uniting generations and highlighting emerging talent, the festival features an electrifying lineup headlined by multi-GRAMMY Award-winning legend Lil Wayne, who will be joined by The Roots for an unforgettable performance paying homage to his New Orleans roots. Special guests PJ Morton and Trombone Shorty will enhance the immersive celebration.
Adding to the star-studded roster, powerhouse Jill Scott, fresh off her monumental 20th anniversary tour, will co-headline and bring her signature spirit and soul to her hometown of Philadelphia.
Reflecting the essence of collaboration and creativity, the festival responds to fan demand by welcoming Victoria Monét, Andre 3000, and Gunna among other iconic acts. André 3000 will showcase tracks from his acclaimed solo debut, “New Blue Sun,” while Gunna returns following a sold-out performance at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The eclectic lineup also includes performances by Sexyy Red, Tyla, Smino, Babyface, Adam Blackstone featuring Fantasia & Muni Long, Cam’ron, Nas, Wale, Robert Glasper featuring Yebba, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, and more.
“Roots Picnic” promises an unmatched experience with the Parkside Stage, featuring live podcasts, DJ sets, and immersive media experiences. Attendees can look forward to curated shows like Million Dollaz Worth of Game, R&B Only & U+ME+RNB, Tonight’s Conversation, Juan Epstein Podcast, World Series of Spades, and They Have the Range. Last year’s event saw unforgettable performances by Usher & The Roots, Ms. Lauryn Hill with a surprise Fugees reunion, Dave Chappelle, State Property, Lil Uzi Vert, and others.
