The Amateur follows Charlie Heller (Rami Malek), a brilliant but introverted CIA decoder working out of a basement office at Langley. His world is shattered when his wife is killed in a terrorist attack in London, and after his supervisors refuse to act, Charlie takes justice into his own hands. His quest for revenge leads him on a perilous journey across the globe, using his expertise to evade those who stand in his way.
The thriller also stars Rachel Brosnahan, Caitríona Balfe, Jon Bernthal, Michael Stuhlbarg, Holt McCallany, Julianne Nicholson, Adrian Martinez, Danny Sapani, and Laurence Fishburne. Directed by James Hawes with a screenplay by Ken Nolan and Gary Spinelli, the film is based on the novel by Robert Littell.
