Tune In: WNBA’s “Pride Is Love”

All month, the WNBA has been celebrating LGBTQ_ Pride Month with activities and initiatives that empower players, fans, and employees to share their voices and create a more inclusive environment around the game and in their communities. As part of WNBA Pride, the WNBA Pride Unity Collection is now here! The collection of apparel features limited-edition merchandise from Fanatics, Play Society, and Slide. A portion of all proceeds from the sales of these products will be donated to LGBTW+ charitable organizations including Athlete Ally.

Fanatics and the WNBA will collaborate on an exclusive line of Pride apparel featuring WNBA T-shirts.   The WNBA will donate proceeds from the sale of each WNBA Pride T-shirt directly to Athlete Ally, who believes that everyone should have equal access, opportunity, and experience in sports, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.  Fanatics will donate $25,000 directly to Athlete Ally.

“Pride in ME!” Throughout June, WNBA.com will feature conversations from the Atlanta Dream’s AD Durr and Los Angeles Sparks’ Head Coach Curt Miller surrounding the pride they have in themselves; from their journey to and in the W, to owning who you are, and displaying Pride in their overall life purpose.

WNBA App: The WNBA App will amplify and celebrate Pride Month throughout June by updating its user interface from the league’s standard brand colors to the recognizable colors representing Pride.

WNBA Content: “Pride is Love”: WNBA players show up every day on the court unapologetically themselves, and a new content series rolled out during June will focus on how LGBTQ+ players’ partners help make that possible by being a support system. Love for the game and love for each other, and how they go hand in hand, is the focus of this series.

Episode one will feature Indiana Fever’s Erica Wheeler and her fiancée, assistant women’s basketball coach at SMU, Dani Edwards.

Episode two will feature Connecticut Sun assistant coach Briann January and her wife, Tasha Harris.
