The 2022 WNBA Finals kicked off this Sunday as No. 1 seeded Las Vegas Aces hosted the No. 3 Connecticut Sun at Michelob ULTRA Arena. The best-of-five series will continue in Vegas straight through Game 2 and then Connecticut will host Game 3 on their home court – and if necessary, Game 4, while a Game 5 would send the teams back to Vegas, where the winner will be presented with the championship trophy.
Neither team has won a title, and this match-up has been heavily discussed due to this very fact. It would be a momentous victory for either team! Leading up to the Finals, the Aces swept the Phoenix Mercury, later beating the Seattle Storm in the semi-finals, 3-1. As for the Sun, their post-season journey began in Dallas, beating them 2-1 in the first round. They later knocked out the defending champs, Chicago Sky, 3-2 in the semifinals.
The Connecticut Sun had a chance to turn things around, but ultimately, Aja Wilson, and team, rallied together to seal Game 1’s win.
