This past weekend, the WNBA took over Las Vegas for their annual All-Star weekend festivities. Just before Saturday’s tipoff, ESPN’s SportsCenter account posted a Tweet that had social media buzzing. It also caught the attention of the living legend herself, Sheryl Swoopes.

Intrigued by the question, Swoopes used her podcast, “Queens of the Court,” to share her response, along with co-host Jordan Robinson.
“This is such a no-brainer. First of all you have Spoon – you know how I feel about Chelsea Gray. Chelsea Gray is a baller. But Chelsea Gray ain’t see nobody like T-Soon, who is going to get up in your grill, is going to talk to you, and is going to lock you up! So all those fancy passes, all that, ain’t happening,” expressed Swoopes.
“And then you got – I’m not even going to say the names – you got C.C., S.S., T.T., and L.L.,” she continued.
It truly is an interesting debate and Swoopes is valid in all of her takes. Not to take anything away from the 2023, because they are all amazing ballers in their own right, but there was just something special about the 2003 team. Especially when it came to defense.
“Let me say this so no one comes for me. I’m not a hater, but there’s not a lot of defense on this 2023 team.”
Robinson added to Swoopes’ remark by also adding, “That was my thought. This is the 2003 All-Defense team. 2023 isn’t going to score a point! It’s too much defense on the ’03 team!”
It’s clearly all love, but competition is competition. “The 2023 team isn’t going to score much and we’re going to go crazy scoring,” Swoopes added.
