After being given the opportunity of a lifetime to perform during Hot 97’s Summer Jam, people have already forgotten about underground rapper Papoose. True, the forgettable performance was the talk of the town for a day or so. He was even trending on Twitter the day after. But, did it help his career? Not really….
He didn’t have a hot single to release. He doesn’t have an album in stores. Not to mention, the performance wasn’t all that impressive to begin with. Almost half of the people either didn’t know who he was or thought he was a waste of stage time.
While it didn’t really benefit Papoose as of yet, he really had nothing to lose. If anything, it came across as a desperate attempt from a rapper who almost made it, to save an ever depreciating career. Good luck with that.
